Allen Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) chose Scott + Reid for the interior finish-out of their new office space at One Bethany East at Watters Creek. Responsible for attracting, growing and serving businesses in the Allen community, a move to the newly developed office park capitalizes on the synergies formed with the corporate campus developer, Kaizen Development Partners.
The City of Allen is the backdrop for many design elements found throughout the 4,372-square-foot space. The gallery hallway leading into the space features a large timeline representing the progression of the City of Allen from 1840 to present. A breakout area adjacent to the coffee bar features oscillating glass panels with translucent maps, providing visual privacy while maintaining the feel of an open, flexible workspace. Additional spaces include multiple private offices and a spacious board room fit with an inset wood slat ceiling, reconfigurable conference table and a Modernfold noise cancelling door.
With the base building in the throes of completion, constant communication and coordination with the base building contractor was vital for both parties to execute successful completion. The largest project hurdle came two weeks before the completion date. When a sprinkler head located on the floor above the AEDC space leaked, causing extensive damage to electrical work, ceiling tiles, and walls, the Scott + Reid team worked quickly and diligently to address damaged items and recuperate lost time, allowing the project to complete as scheduled.
