Barnes & Thornburg LLP

Barnes & Thornburg LLP, one of the nation’s largest full-service law firms, selected Scott + Reid for the first-generation finish-out of their 26,165-square-foot office at PwC Tower at Park District.

With the base building in the throes of completion, constant communication and coordination with the base building contractor was vital for both parties to execute successful completion. In addition to working behind the shell contractor, Scott + Reid was tasked with the challenge of working around two other general contractors working in the building. The project team worked alongside the contractors’ representatives to distribute use of the dock space and freight elevator. Combining this method with extended overtime allowed Scott + Reid to recuperate lost time, completing the project on schedule.

A unique area within the suite is the executive boardroom and pre-function gathering space. A custom stone table, which appears to be cut from a single block of stone, is the focal point within the gathering room. The glass-encased boardroom features a 30-foot conference table with custom white oak and stone credenzas on each end, one of which contains a hidden camera lift.

The space balances numerous private offices with open work areas, additional conference rooms, and other common office spaces.  The reception area is highlighted by a 30-foot curved wall finished with a combed texture Venetian plaster, which leads to the custom stone and bleached white oak reception desk. An additional wall within the reception area is a floor to ceiling continuation of the bleached white oak, anchored with a stone encased coffee bar.

The end result not only accommodates the firm’s strategic growth plan, but is a modern design that utilizes an extensive use of glass to capitalize on their impressive views of the Dallas skyline.
