Enterprise Rent-A-Car, a global transportation solutions provider, contracted Scott + Reid for the development of their car rental and sales branch located in the Golden Triangle of Fort Worth, Texas. Project scope included development of 3.2 acres of land, including construction of a 6,710-square-foot sales office building, stand-alone commercial car wash, and all site utilities.
The site water detention system is a unique component to this project. The strategic design creates a sustainable way to recycle car wash water waste by having it flow to a private drop inlet into the city storm water system, alleviating the increase of runoff volume and controlling potential erosion. The detention system is comprised of a mosaic sandstone gravity wall with eight-foot deep concrete flumes nested through landscaping vegetation and various ornamental trees.
Building construction consisted of split face concrete blocks sealed with elastomeric paint, aluminum composite metal accent panels and a clear anodized storefront system. Traffic control gates were installed to assist in managing site security. Additional exterior scope required establishing the parking lot sub-base, including asphalt and curb paving and parking striping. Scott + Reid was also hired for the interior finish-out, which features a combination of polished tile, carpet, and epoxy flooring, clear anodized office fronts, and a suspended plastic laminate ceiling cloud in the lobby.
Scott + Reid was faced with numerous obstacles throughout construction, including holiday office closures for City inspectors and subcontractors, weather delays and extensive coordination with multiple owner-contracted vendors. Careful planning and scheduling were instrumental in overcoming these obstacles and completing building construction in time for the client’s grand opening.
