Featured in Texas Architect: Greenhill School’s Mass Timber Marvel

Scott + Reid is proud to be featured in the Spring 2025 issue of Texas Architect magazine for our work on Greenhill School’s Rosa O. Valdes STEM + Innovation Center. This project is one of the first mass timber school buildings of its kind in North Texas.

The feature article, “Wood-n’t You Know?”, explores the innovative use of cross- laminated timber (CLT) in this 67,000-square-foot facility designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. As the commercial general contractor on the project, we partnered closely with the design and engineering teams to deliver a space that’s both structurally forward- thinking and rooted in educational purpose.

Did You Know?

Mass timber is not only sustainable, it’s strong, efficient, and architecturally striking. At Greenhill, exposed CLT and heavy timber framing turn the building itself into a teaching tool, bringing natural warmth and curiosity to the learning environment. From STEM classrooms to collaborative maker spaces, this project is a standout example of what’s possible in school construction when innovation leads the way. We’re honored to have played a role in bringing this vision to life, and we are proud to continue building education facilities that inspire and endure.

Let’s build something bold together.

Whether it’s K-12, higher ed, or your next commercial project, Scott + Reid brings the experience and partnership to deliver results that stand out.
