At Scott + Reid, quality assurance begins long before physical construction is underway. Our mission is to make a difference in people’s lives and projects by combining high-quality construction with exceptional service. That promise is backed by a formal Quality Assurance Program, led by a dedicated Director of Quality Control, and supported by processes that prioritize collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

We’ve built a reputation on getting the details right, and we know that starts well before mobilization and extends beyond final turnover. Here’s how our approach works at every phase:

Pre-construction

Laying the foundation for success.

During the pre-construction phase, Scott + Reid works to fully understand the project goals, design intent, and critical milestones. That information is clearly communicated to every member of the project team, including subcontractors.

 

Key ELEMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Pre-construction kickoff meetings to align on scope, schedule, site logistics, building rules, and potential lead times.
  • Identification of cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • A detailed responsibility matrix that outlines team member expectations.
  • Early identification and tracking of measurable deliverables.
  • Permit and document coordination with the appropriate municipality.

CONSTRUCTION

Quality through coordination and consistency.

As construction progresses, we focus on keeping the project aligned through proactive communication and disciplined execution. Weekly construction meetings are held with project stakeholders to review progress, resolve issues, and set expectations.

Meanwhile, superintendents hold regular trade and safety meetings to ensure site coordination and compliance.

Supporting processes include:
  • Weekly meeting minutes, updated project schedules, and RFI/submittal/change logs.
  • Daily jobsite notes documenting manpower, inspections, and key events.
  • Field leadership focused on maintaining quality checkpoints throughout the build.
  • Access to our Director of Quality Control for ongoing site evaluations and support.

QUALITY ASSURANCE TOOLS

We leverage cloud-based platforms like Procore and OpenSpace to centralize project data, facilitate collaboration, and ensure accountability across the team.

These tools allow all stakeholders, including owners, tenants, and design teams, to view live project status, track punch items, access drawings, and confirm documentation in real time.

Supporting Software includes:
  • Procore: Project management, QC logs, submittals, RFIs, and financials.
  • OpenSpace: Visual tracking with 360° documentation.
  • Top-tier accounting software: Real-time cost control and budget alignment.

Scott + Reid uses industry-leading project management and accounting software to ensure accurate, up-to-date financial reporting, streamlined billing, and transparent cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

All billing is reviewed by our accounting team and Controller before submission, ensuring accuracy and transparency for every client.

POST-CONSTRUCTION

No surprises at handover.

Our proactive approach to quality control culminates in a smooth closeout process. Before the formal punch walk, our Superintendent and QC Director perform a detailed pre-punch to eliminate outstanding issues. We don’t call for final review until we know it’s ready.

Final deliverables include:
  • Punch-list walk with the full project team.
  • Subcontractor contact list and warranty letters.
  • Lien releases and certificate of occupancy documentation.
  • Daily jobsite notes archive.
  • Final as-builts and operation manuals.
